Putting the F in Foundation

Holiday season is revving up! It may seem overwhelming for many of you – with all of the upcoming holiday treats, drinks, parties and of course, our beloved families. Add this to the general responsibilities of our big, beautiful lives – it can get a Beacon Buddy out of their wise mind faster than you can say “Gobble Gobble!”

Here’s the thing Buddies, you have everything you need to rock this holiday season right, and even make it out of the “Bermuda Triangle” season in a better space then when you entered. #truestory

How you ask? By relying on your foundation. Knowing what works – and acting on it –  inoculates you from feeling lost, swirling in the holiday chaos of gingerbread cookies and leftover candy corn.

Don’t know what your foundation is, what it’s made of or how to get one? No worries. That, as we say at Beacon, is a problem to be solved. Your foundation is made up of the behaviors and skills that help you to move towards your long term goals of freedom from your food and weight issues.

Ask yourself:
“In tough times what are the routines and foundation that I fall back on?”
“What do I know, for sure, works to keep me in my wisest mind and most aligned with my goals?”

“If I was making a plan for the person I loved the most who was struggling with food and weight issues, what would I prescribe to them?”

Take a moment this afternoon – take pen to paper or finger to screen – and make a list (aka some goals) of the behaviors and skills that make – or would make –  your most solid foundation. Knowing it means you can work towards it. #fakeituntilyoumakeit

I know for me, this means staying really close to my Beacon pillars of meal plan, meal regulation and planning. It also means taking care of my emotions and spirit by checking my thoughts, staying close to my power circle, and committing to a gratitude and meditation practice.

The greatest commitment you can make to yourself for your most enjoyable holiday season yet is to approach each day with a commitment to honor and strengthen your foundation. And, of course, immediately correcting course when you find yourself faltering. #thegirftthatkeepsgiving
