I’m in a Glass Case of Emotion!

A bad day is made worse by overeating.

“Bad Days”
There are some days when we wake up in the morning knowing with a sixth sense that the day is going to be a hard one and full of emotion. These are the days when it is difficult to get out of bed, when we would prefer not to face whatever awaits us. There is no way around these days, we must get through them the best way we can.

Our most useful tool for coping with a bad day is abstinence. Nothing is impossible when we are abstaining from emotional eating and binge eating. Often our problem lies not in the external events of the day but in recognizing a part of yourself that has been hidden and repressed. We resist facing honestly what The Universe is revealing to us about our inner life.

When we are determined not to escape into the food by utilizing emotional eating to numb the emotions, we will come out of a bad day stronger than we were before. We reinforce our new way of living, which is to turn difficult situations over to The Universe and then act as we are guided, step by step.

Which brings me to today’s tip: There is nothing so bad that overeating does not make WORSE. Hard family situation today? Boss make you angry? Lose your wallet with all of your credit cards AND phone in it? Gorging on your favorite binge food makes your stomach hurt, your hope in long term recovery less, AND your current struggles are still hard.

Today may be a hard day for a few of you, but maybe we can move the focus today off of not being able to eat dessert, off of family situations being challenging, off of traffic, and life getting lifey and focus on the solution.

Focus on the problem, the problem gets bigger. Focus on the solution, the solution gets bigger. Or as my boy Buddha said it best:

“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think, we become.”

Shine Bright using your inner lights Buddies!
